I just felt it was time for me to ask this question; is the cupcake the new coffee cake?
Everywhere I go these days it seems that the little smile in a cup, otherwise known as a cupcake, has invaded the coffee house scene. It wasn't long ago that my favorite cafes offered a full line of pastry and muffins to go along with my tall latte or coffee blacks.Today they have been replaced by crazy flavored cupcakes. Now I'm not saying that the cupcake is a bad thing, on the contrary, I follow a lot of bloggers and bakery owners that have gone into the cupcake business and totally appreciate the movement. In the end I can only conclude that the younger generation just doesn't eat or enjoy the more traditional coffee cake, muffin, or donuts, and so goes our old and in with the new.
